Rusha & Co. is proud to present When It Rains, I Pour, a group exhibition curated by Keziah Toscano, opening Saturday, November 23rd, from 6–9 pm.
Loosely inspired by the nursery rhyme “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring”, When It Rains, I Pour delves into the intertwined melancholia and indulgence that often accompanies catharsis. The exhibition explores the cyclical nature of emotions: the stillness before a storm, the chaos within it, and the quiet aftermath.
The works linger on the edge of clarity without fully arriving there—obscure party scenes steeped in stoicism and loneliness, where conversations remain unfinished, juxtaposed with serene yet unsettling landscapes that hover between beauty and discomfort. Smoke rises from unseen fires, fish remain trapped—neither consumed nor free—resolutions are unclear but imminent. These are moments of movement, not stasis, where change is inevitable but its direction unknown.
When It Rains, I Pour is a meditation on the coexistence of gloom and exuberance, loss and renewal, and a reflection on an ever-changing emotional landscape.
